The transfer of the Portuguese Royal Family to Brazil in 1808
The war in Europe with Napoleon caused the transfer of the Portuguese Royal Family to Brazil in 1808. This brought important development to the country. For example, the fast growth of cities, the changes of government from colony to empire, causing changes in Brazil's geography. State capitals were created, the most important of them being Rio de Janeiro city, which was, for a very long time, the capital of Brazil. The independence of our country took a long time to be proclaimed. This delayed the future development of the country.
